Norman Johnson {General Johnson}
 
of the band "General Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board" died early today, 10/14/2010. At the age of 67 at his home Atlanta GA.
 A Grammy award winning songwriter and singer he start singing in church. And started his own band at the age of 12. He was born in Norfolk Va, April 23rd 1943.
 He started singing on the east coast with a high school group called the "the Showmen" and started touring in 1966. As the groups popularty grew Norman Johnson moved to Detroit Michigan where the group "Chaimen of the Board" was started in 1969, with its first hit song in 1970 with "Give me just a little more time". A number 3 hit on the Billboard Pop charts. 
His other hits were "It will stand" with The Showmen. "Pay to the piper" a #13 hit and "Somebodys been sleepin' in my bed". He also was named as a BMI songwriter of the year. Other hit songs were with partner Greg Perry a co-member of Chairmen of the Board.
Johnson wrote hit songs for
